GeoClaw Users’ Workshop

Planning for Future Workshops

The March 2026 workshop has now ended. Thanks to the 70+ people who attended some or all of the workshop and contributed to a very successful event. We learned about many interesting applications of GeoClaw, and perhaps started some new collaborations.

The Schedule now contains links to videos for many of the talks.

Whether or not you attended, you are invited to fill out this survey form to provide feedback on this workshop and/or to make suggestions for future workshops. You can also use it to get on our mailing list for announcements of future workshops. (Or join the claw-users google group for announcements, also of new releases.)

Workshop Description

We will hold an online (Zoom) GeoClaw Users’ Workshop on March 19-20, 2026, with a series of short talks (~15 minutes) by developers and users about interesting GeoClaw-related projects (including also related packages such as D-Claw, ForestClaw, BingClaw, etc.) interspersed, with time for discussion and break-out groups to enable chatting more with the speakers or other participants. One-on-one time with developers will also be available for users who need assistance with using GeoClaw.

The workshop will run from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm Pacific Daylight Time on both Thursday and Friday. Participants are welcome to come and go as desired, and participation in break-out groups is entirely optional. If there is sufficient interest, some additional break-out groups may be organized later each day, particularly for users who might want to work with each other or with GeoClaw developers to make progress on a GeoClaw-related project.

The Registration Form also allows you to give us some information on your interests and projects, if you so desire, and to let us know if you are interested in giving a talk.

The Github repository contains these webpages and can also be used for sharing resources.

Participants agree to abide by the Clawpack Community NumFOCUS Code of Conduct.

Workshop Schedule and Wiki Pages

The workshop will run from 8:30 am to roughly 1:00 pm PDT (UTC-7) both days. There may be additional break-out groups or one-on-one discussions, or mini hacking sessions in the afternoons for those interested.

See Schedule for the schedule and list of speakers. The Speaker Wiki Pages may have more information about the speakers and their talks/interests.

Participants are also invited to create a wiki page for yourself on the Participant Wiki Pages. This is entirely optional, but may help people connect with others who have similar interests or useful expertise.

Other wiki pages

Other wiki pages may be created to share additional information, see the wiki home page.
